» The Beacon
The Beacon, a shelter program offered through Carolina Youth Development Center, is designed to serve runaway and homeless youth under 18 years of age. The Beacon offers a short term, safe residential experience that provides nurturing treatment and advocacy for children and their families.

 

Program Goals:
Provide shelter, meals, hygiene products, clothing and counseling for runaway and homeless youth
Develop community awareness through Safe Place sites
Prevent future homelessness by providing aftercare and follow-up services.

Clinical Services:
Individual and Family Assessment and Counseling
Case Management and Advocacy
Family Support through in-home services and family groups
Information and referrals to long-term care options

Community Outreach:
• Community education programs for youth, parents and agencies
• Youth advisory group activities
• 24-hour telephone assistance, 843-266-5270
