» Preparation for Adult Living (PAL)
Preparation for Adult Living is an Independent Living Program that includes a range of rehabilitative services for young women ages 15-21.

Program Goals:

Develop and enhance independent living skills and promote self sufficiency in a protected learning environment

  • Teach and develop effective stress-management strategies, decision-making, problem-solving and coping skills.
  • Create opportunities for a successful community living experience.

Clinical Services:

Ongoing assessments for trauma and chemical dependency

  • Individual, group, and family counseling
  • Aftercare support to link to community services.

Clients at PAL attend local colleges and can be employed off campus. The Bakker Career Center provides job and life skills in preparation for independent living.

Young women aging out of foster care are the forgotten victims of child abuse. They run the highest risk of unemployment, substance abuse, homelessness and incarceration. PAL provides them with more than a home. These young women also learn the skills needed to become successful adults.
